09 Oct Celebrating Changemakers, Join us for our Black History Month Assembly on Friday 18th October @10am
Each year during Black History Month, we come together to celebrate and reflect on the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black communities around the world. Last year, our focus was on the Windrush Generation, recognizing the incredible impact and resilience of those who came to the UK from the Caribbean to rebuild the nation after World War II.
This year, we are excited to shine a light on the theme of Untold Stories. Throughout history, there have been countless Black individuals whose extraordinary achievements have often been overlooked. Today, we will share with you the untold stories of remarkable people from a variety of fields, each of whom made incredible contributions to their professions and to society as a whole.
We will hear stories about:
- A nurse who broke barriers in healthcare
- A musician whose influence shaped modern sounds
- An engineer who innovated behind the scenes
- Scientists and mathematicians who helped advance our understanding of the world
- An army officer who bravely served his country
- And a footballer who pioneered diversity in the sport
These individuals may not be the first names that come to mind when you think of famous historical figures, but their stories are powerful, inspiring, and deserve to be told.
Join us as we honor their legacies and explore the untold stories that continue to shape our world today.
