14 Mar Karima SinghCo-opted Governor
My name is Karima Larosi Singh. I have two children: one is in secondary school and left Holmleigh in 2021 and the other one is in Year 5. I have been at Holmleigh since 2012 and started the Friends of Holmleigh parent group with another parent in 2014. I become a parent governor in 2015 and I have been a co-opted governor for the last two years. I am a qualified nursery nurse and have a lot of passion for the children in the community, my aim is to keep the community together through the children.
I set up the after school child care and holiday club a few years ago at Holmleigh so that parents who work have a safe ‘home from home’ experience without having to take their children out of school.
I supervise the lunchtime play and I have helped with organising activities and playground games to keep the children busy, engaged and having fun.
My role as a governor helps me see things in a different light and understand the position of the school. I’ve always been a bridge between the parents and the school and though I’m not the parent governor, I have the same passion towards the school and I have really enjoyed and learnt a lot while working here.
I hope to be part of the Holmleigh family for as long my body can take it. I will always love and admire all that Holmleigh gives to its pupils.
