Year 1
Welcome to Year 1!
I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer and are keeping cool. We are so excited to welcome you all back and to meet some new faces as well.
At the beginning of Year 1, to ensure all children feel comfortable with the transition, we would like it to feel very similar to the free-flowing reception that the little ones and their adults are used to.
Sometimes transitions can be tough for some families. We will do whatever we can to make all children feel safe, happy, and loved, and we want nothing more than to make all pupils love learning.
It might make everyone feel ready if the child has been introduced to some of the key ideas we will learn before the start of school, as it’s nice to feel like an expert and know what to expect. Here are some things we will focus on during the first six weeks:
- Literacy: Not Now Bernard
- Maths: Counting to 100
- Science: My body
- Geography: My local area and where I live
- PSHE: All about me
Any conversations around these topics could support the child feel ready to learn in Year 1. But the most important thing is to have a lovely summer.
See you all in September
