03 Apr Rachel BurdCo-opted Governor
I have been a Co-opted Governor at Holmleigh school since December 2021 and I also sit on the Curriculum Committee. I am passionate about the outcomes of the children and young people in my local area and I previously spent 5 years as a Secondary Maths teacher in Dagenham and Newham. After leaving the classroom, I missed being a part of a school community and working as part of a team to support a rich education for pupils, so I was very pleased to be accepted for this role. I now work as a Management Consultant, specialising in helping organisations to develop their workforce strategies. In Management Consultancy, we often act as a ‘Critical Friend’, asking important questions and helping to develop solutions to complex challenges. I like to think that I am able to bring skills learnt in my teaching and Consulting career to the role as Governor. I have had a fantastic experience so far, Holmleigh is clearly a very special place and have enjoyed working with friendly, committed governors and staff and meeting the lovely families and pupils.
